Col. John H. Williams (RETD), 87 of Absecon, passed away peacefully at Shore Memorial Hospital on April 4, 2016. John was born in Dickson City, PA to Morgan L. and M. Lillian Williams on September 7, 1928. He is predeceased by granddaughter, Meghan E. Williams; his wife, Cecilia M. Williams (Miller); and grandson, Randall P. Jordan. John started his career in the military at Newark Airport as a Private First Class, Radio Maintenance Tech on P-51's and P-47's Thunderbolts. While at Newark, he rose to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. John gladly volunteered for back seat duty on the F4 Phantoms for target practice at Warren Grove Gunnery Range. This earned him his “Princeton Tigers” back seat club patch for his flight jacket. From 1968-1969, he was on active duty at Myrtle Beach AFB. He returned to the 177th as a Captain. He was the Chief of Maintenance for the 177th Fighter Interceptor Group in Atlantic City. He is survived by daughters, Karen Williams of Mays Landing, Patricia and Ron Stern of Ventnor, NJ, Ann and Jeff Loreaux of Duxbury, MA; his son John M. and Christine Williams of Nesco, NJ; grandchildren, Joshua M. & Jennifer Williams of Chalfont, PA, Nicholas M. and Tara Williams, Rachael Jordan of Nesco, NJ, Andrew M. Loreaux, Fitchburg, Ma., Daniel S. Loreaux, Providence, RI., Zachary J. Stern, Landsdale, PA, Gregory C. Loreaux, Alston, MA Elizabeth A. Loreaux, Duxbury, MA; and great grandchildren, Joshua, Cali, Taylor, Brynn, Dylan, and Audrey. John was a devout catholic and a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish. A viewing will be held Friday, April 8th, from 6:00-8:00PM at Wimberg Funeral Home, 211 E. Great Creek Road, Galloway, NJ 609-641-0001. On Saturday, April 9th, a viewing will be held from 9:30AM-10:30AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, 591 New Jersey Avenue, Absecon, NJ 08201 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM.
