John T. Callahan, 82, Smithville, Four Seasons, Galloway Township passed away on Tuesday December 8, 2020 at home. Before retiring to Four Seasons Smithville in 2003, John grew up in Philadelphia, PA. He was married for 62 years to his beloved wife Juanita before her passing in August, 2020. Theirs was truly a love story. John spent his work life in the Philadelphia theater community as the Master Carpenter for the Forrest Theater and the Technical Director for the Philadelphia Opera Company at the Academy of Music. He was a longstanding member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Local 8 (IATSE) having served in various leadership roles over the years. He was recognized as an accomplished stagehand throughout the country and globally as well. He served as a teacher and mentor to many emerging stagehands over the years. He was committed to excellence, safety and bringing the magic to each and every show. John loved to travel with Juanita. Summers on the beach and winters on a cruise were their favorite adventures. He was an active member of the Four Seasons Community serving on a number of committees. He and Four Seasons community members supported many local charities through a yearly summer event known as “Hot Dogs for Charity”. Monies raised were shared with local charities.
