George E. Mick Sr., 93, of Jenkins, NJ, died peacefully on Monday, October 22, 2018, while surrounded by his family at AtlantiCare Regional Hospital in Pomona. George will be lovingly missed by his wife of 63 years, Jeannette (Adams); son, George Jr. (Laura); grandson, John (Amanda); and great-grandchildren, Vega and Remy. He was predeceased by his father, Webster Mick; his mother, Nancy (Patten) Mick; a sister, Helen Simons; and brother, Howard Mick. George is a veteran of World War II, where he earned several medals, including the Combat Infantry Badge, 3 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He fought in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, The Military Order of the Purple Heart and the American Legion Post #158. George was a Blueberry Farmer and owner of Micks Gulf Service Station. Along with his brother Howard, he later started and operated the very successful business of Micks’ Canoe Rental. In addition, he was a contracted mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 44 years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, and board games with close friends and family. Of his many accomplishments, he was most proud of his family who reaped the benefits of his quick wit and sense of humor, his love, kindness, concern and compassion. Visitation of family and friends will take place on Saturday, October 27th from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM with a service beginning at 11:00 AM at Wimberg Funeral Home, 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor City, NJ 609-965-0357. Burial will follow at Egg Harbor Cemetery, Moss Mill Road and Hamburg Avenue, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215. For condolences or directions, please visit wimbergfuneralhome.com.
