Edwin (Ed) Williams

April 28, 2022

WILLIAMS, EDWIN (ED), 91 of Galloway Township died peacefully on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Ed retired from the home building business that he started in 1953. Ed served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp where he served in the Korean War. Ed was a member of the Absecon Island Power Squadron and enjoyed boating and fishing and obtaining his captain’s license. Ed restored a 1930 Chevy Model AD and a 1967 18’ utility Cris Craft wooden boat. Ed’s enjoyed witling wooden figures, watching the Phillies, mastering the most difficult puzzles and golfing with friends. Ed is predeceased by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Rita. Ed is survived by his children, Joanne Wheaton of Port Republic, Theresa Williams of Galloway, Scott and his wife, Christine of Galloway. Ed had three grandsons and their wives that he adored, Brent and Jacque Wheaton, Ed and Camryn Williams and Bob and Jamie Williams. Ed’s great grandchildren gave him pride and joy, Everett and Henry Wheaton, Liam Williams and Eddie Williams III. Ed loved all of his grand-dogs too. Ed is also survived by his nephew, Ed Gant. Ed is predeceased by his sister, Doris Waters and his parents, Bob and Josephine Williams. If you knew Ed, you knew he never stood still in one place very long but was always there to lend a hand if needed. The family will be celebrating both Ed and Rita’s life on Friday, May 6th, 2022, from 10 am to 11 am at Wimberg Funeral Home in Galloway. Interment will follow at the Atlantic County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Estelle Manor. For condolences and directions, please visit wimbergfuneralhome.com.
