Edward (Ed & Pop-Pop) Quigley

January 18, 2021

Quigley, Edward (Ed & Pop-Pop)-81, of Galloway, left us to meet Patty, the love of his life, in Heaven on January 18, 2021. Born in Philadelphia, Pa in 1939, raised in the Ducktown section of Atlantic City, and formally of Egg Harbor Township, where he lived and raised his family with his loving wife and best friend, Patricia. He joined the United States Air Force at 17, and while stationed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, he met Patty at a dance after asking her sister to dance, she refused and he looked at his future wife of 58 years together and said, “How about you?” After six months, they were married until her death in 2018. Ed was a former coach and president of both Chelsea Little League and Pleasant Woods Little League, also Co-founder of the Pleasant Woods Soccer Program, now the Egg Harbor Township Soccer Program. There is a street named after him in the Pleasant Woods “Birdland” section of EHT. He was a loyal guy who retired from Western Pest Services after 36 years, then worked at the Taj Mahal Casino for “cigarettes and card playing money”. He was a great dancer, enjoyed playing golf and cards with his buddies, Mike, Al, & Floyd, traveling, and watching television. He loved a good/free beer and liked to laugh, joke, and tease anyone he met. What he cherished most was spending time with his beloved wife and family, who will miss his love, sense of humor and inappropriate comments. Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (nee Applegate); his mother, Alice Thorpe; his sister, Isabelle; his brother, Ronald; and best friend, Romeo Fortis. He leaves to cherish his memory his four children, Michael (Maria) Quigley, Patrick (Deb) Quigley, Donna (Nick) Fiadino, and Kimberly (Rick) Santoro. Pop-Pop’s funny moments and satire will be missed by his 10 grandchildren, Nicholas, Kyle, Kelsey, Tyler, Kate, Justin, Anne, Cooper, Andrew, and Lucien; and his step-grandchildren, Brittany and Michael. He will be missed by is adoring sisters, Alice (George) Reed and Susan (Ron) Hanson and many relatives and friends. In honor of Ed’s Irish Heritage, the family asks that you wear something green. There will be a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life, Saturday January 23, 2021 at Wimberg Funeral Home 211 East Great Creek Road Galloway, NJ 609-641-0001. Visitation and gathering of relatives and friends will be from 9:00am-11:00am, with a service to follow. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required. Burial will be at the Atlantic County Veteran’s Cemetery in Mays Landing, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Seashore Gardens Living Center. For condolences, please visit wimbergfuneralhome.com. A live stream of the service will start at 10:45 am. Please join us by click on the link: https://webcast.funeralvue.com/events/viewer/45864
