Delores Jaye Allen, went to Receive her Crown on November 10, 2020 at Seashore nursing home. Delores was born in Mays Landing (Laureldale) to Elder Dennis and Alona A. Austin Allen. Was called Lowey by her many nieces and nephews. Attended Mays Landing Schools, my home courses, and NY undergraduate school. Delores received the Lord very early in life. She was taught b her teacher that she was very successful because she “found the Lord early in life and stay with Him the rest of her life.” Delores has great faith in God and she often repeated this to others. She knew God was able to do all things and her faith never wavered. She was a member of her father’s church, Church of God on New York Ave, most of her life where she was a musician. Later on, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School. She became good friends with Dr. Sanders of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, which is on currently the Lighthouse Community Church. Delores worked in New York Hilton Hotel as a host and became their concert style piano player. After being heard by owner, Mr. Hilton became a part of her writing ministry. This ministry, she wrote to local, county and state to help her community. Doing this she became Christie T. Whitman’s prayer partner and friend. She also wrote to First Lady Laura Bush when she was ill, praying for her. They became friends and First Lady Laura Bush wrote to Delores to invite her to her son’s inauguration. Delores was an accomplished artist, writer and poet. Multitalented yet very humble and a heart full of love. She is predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Albert, Joseph, Zackery, Lucille Whitaker, Leonhard, Elizabeth and Katherine. Cherishing her memories her sister and caregiver, Grace J. Allen; nieces and nephews, Tyrone Whitaker, Grace Elliott, Reo Ronald, Darnell Moody, Linda Canfield, and Richard Mangano Children; and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and church families. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 21st from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Wimberg Funeral Home, 211 E. Great Creek Rd, Galloway 609-641-0001. A graveside service will follow at the Egg Harbor City Cemetery. For condolences and/or directions, please visit wimbergfuneralhome.com.
