Deleria Jane Williams

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.” Rev. 21:4 Deleria Jane Williams was called to be with the Lord on February 8, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. Deleria was born December 7, 1951 at the Atlantic City Hospital to the late David Samuel Williams Sr. and Janie Austin Williams. She was also predeceased by her elder brothers, David S. Jr. and James E. and sister, Shirley Fikes. Deleria accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age. She grew up in the fellowship of St. Paul CME Church in South Egg Harbor, NJ. She was proud of growing up in the company of generations of families, aunts, uncles, first cousins, second cousins, brothers, sisters, and good neighbors. Yes, a place where church members looked out for one another. She felt blessed to be part of that foundation. Deleria’s education began in the Galloway Twp. school system South Egg Harbor NJ. She graduated in the class of 1969 at Oakcrest Regional High School in Mays Landing NJ. Not quite sure of what field she wanted to pursue, she attended Goldey Beacon Business College in Wilmington, DE and Glassboro State College (Rowan University). As she matured and gained a greater sense of life, she enrolled in architectural/Civil Engineering Technology at Guilford Technical Community College in North Carolina. This experience gave her insight in site planning, Blue Print drawings, estimating contracts and specification writing. While attending college in North Carolina, she served as manager and personal caregiver for the aging and physically challenged. This experience made her aware of the concerns clients and their families faced regarding handicap accessibility housing and renovations. These concerns firmed up her desire of becoming a designer/consultant for total accessibility residential and commercial housing. One of her most talked about experiences was her 9-year service in New Jersey Air National Guard. She reflected on her time working with her brother, Jimmy and her nephew, Anthony in civil engineering. She also had an early love of animals especially dogs and puppies. Watching and enjoying the TV show Lassie was a family Sunday night ritual. She developed a passion for making stain glass windows later in life, which gave her a sense of relaxation and contentment. Deleria leaves to celebrate her life, her beloved son, Christopher W. Williams, from a relationship with Edward Browning; her two brothers, Robert (Ernestine) of Willingboro, NJ and Lawrence (Irna) of Melbourne, FL; sisters, Ruth Muse of Willingboro, NJ, Anne W. Henry of Salem, NJ, Beverly Blann of Egg Harbor, NJ; sister-in-law, Phyllis of Egg Harbor. NJ and Estella Williams of Pleasantville, NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Deleria had a host of fiends and relatives who kept in touch with her by phone, Facebook, prayers, cards and visits from far and near. There are names we’d like to mention, but fear to do so because surely, someone who be missed! Please know that your many acts of kindness have not gone unnoticed, for God knows what you did was from your heart; and for that, we thank you! May God continue to Bless you! The Family
