Charles Edward Riddick Sr. affectionally known as “smiling Charlie” was born on October 21, 1945, to the proud parents John, and Marilyn Bernard. Charlie went home to be with the lord on December 31, 2021. Charlie attended Mizpah public schools System and matriculated to the regional high school, Oakcrest. It was there that Charlie met and later married the love of his life Rose Mays. From this union came three wonderful children, Charles Jr., Toknwa and Archie (deceased). His famous saying was…. PULL UP. Charlie was employed at Author Henry construction (Laborer union local 172) for over 35 years. After his retirement Charlie enjoyed driving big trucks to Philadelphia as well as holding many part-time jobs to support his family, Jonesy’s Bar, Club Harlem parking lot, Pleasantville cab and Sam’s Bar and Grill. Charlie was a proud member of the Homeboys where he enjoyed meeting people and celebrating any occasion. No matter when or where you met Charlie (Jonesy’s, Uncle Dewey’s, Junior’s, wash’s inn, Rialto’s, hundred-dollar corner) he always made friends. Charlie was predeceased by his parents Marilyn and John Bernard, beloved wife, Rose Riddick, sons Barada Ausby and Archie Riddick Sr. brother Archie Riddick, sisters Deloris Riddick and Denise Bernard, mother-in-law Ida Guilford-Mays, father-in-law Bishop Clifford Mays Sr., brother-in-law: Carl Mays, sister-in-law Maxine Mays-Graham. Charlie leaves to mourn fond memories to his son, Charles Riddick Jr.; his one and only daughter, Toknwa Riddick; his daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Ausby; his grandchildren, Shameeka Riddick, Michael Murphy (Darrella), Darnell Kelly (Stephanie), Thanaia Riddick, Ashley Riddick, Lakia Riddick, Alicia Riddick, Archie Riddick Jr. Nyisha, Solomon, and Tomeka along with twenty great grandchildren; his brother, Dennis Bernard; his sisters-in-law, Jessie Mays, Barbara Wyman, and Gloria Lomax (George); his brothers-in-law, Clifford Jr. James Mays (Shirley), Myrtile Mays, Donald Mays (Donna), and Perry Mays (Wendy); his god-daughters, Shona Brown and Tracy Wigfall; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 7 from 10am to 11am with the service starting at 11am at Shiloh Baptist Church in Egg Harbor City.
